Who is laura skellie?

I am a mother of three beautiful babies, first and foremost - it is my favorite title and the one that makes me most qualified to be a family photographer. Honestly, being a mom makes my ability to soothe your concerns and worry on photo days easy! However, the rebrand introduces my other title - superintendent. Construction is my “day job”…one that involved putting on a hard hat and boots and running a construction site…

Besides photography being one of my greatest loves, a few other “titles” I hold are dog wrangler, kitty cuddler, a sister, daughter, multi-medium artist, amazing public speaker, introverted extrovert, infertility advocate, and I will always make your life seem normal compared to the one I live… ha

Now…I have a Masters of Architecture and after about 8 years doing that I realized I loved construction....so I made a change. I love being in that role during the day, but in 2012 I missed being able to create amazing art…no matter the kind. I picked up a camera that year and the rest is history. I fell in love with it and made it my new passion.

A little about me - born and raised in Michigan, moved to Alabama in 2012. There my ex and I fought for years with infertility….Our daughter Josephine was the result of a fresh, IVF (in vitro fertilization) transfer from November 2017, and our son Lincoln was the result of a frozen IVF transfer from June 2021! I am a huge advocate, and supporter of all things infertility and will talk about our struggles with anyone! It is a life I do not wish on anyone, but has made me stronger and a more compassionate human being! Shockingly in 2023, I found myself pregnant with what I cannot explain as anything except saying another miracle baby….life may not be what I planned it to be, but I’ve known since a young age, being a mother was always in my plans.

One major trait I posses is the ability to help people feel comfortable, and with that includes having clients TRUST me whole-heartedly at sessions. Let me control the show, even your kids....I promise I will look to you if I need some guidance with difficult kiddos - but most of the time - I find ways to connect and get them involved! <3

I cannot wait to meet you, whether you are in town for a short time and need photos, vacation here all the time and want to relive your moments, a photographer looking to work with me, or a client who calls Savannah home...I never meet a stranger, and am fast friends with those in the industry as well as our clients. It is what stands me apart. I thrive on community over competition, and being transparent with my clients.
